I Matter

Do you ever just want to make sure that you still matter? Do you want to make sure you ever did matter?

Sometimes I just need a reminder that I matter. I need to matter in a relationship. I need to matter on my job. I need to matter in somebody’s life. But as much as I feel that I need to matter I need to ask myself what I’ve done to matter.

I want to matter in a good way. I want to matter in a relationship because I make it better, not because of the pain I cause. I want to matter on my job because I’m good at it. And I want to be shown how much I matter, not just told.

I don’t always think I matter. I’m not sure a person’s day is better because I’m in it, and that bothers me. It bothers me that I’ve not made a lasting impression with every person I’ve met. So here’s what I’m going to do:

1) Rejoice evermore.

2) Pray without ceasing.

3) Give thanks in everything.

Because if I rejoice nonstop for what’s God’s done, and if I pray nonstop to God, and if I thank God for everything, every situation, and every person, I can’t help but leave a lasting impression.

See, when I do what matters to God, I can’t help but matter.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.
