Its good to be involved in the election and politics. I believe it’s good to be well researched in the subject matter in order to make the correct educational and importantly spiritual decision about the candidate you deem worthy of your vote. I encourage everyone to study any subject matter in order to have an intelligent conversation about it.

But, the thing is, we spend so much time being well versed in so many different subjects and neglect the time we need for the most important subject, our Spiritual one. We dedicate so much of ourselves to studying and delve so far into things that really won’t matter, and through our actions say our spiritual subject just isn’t deemed worthy enough for our attention.

Of all our conversations, how many are sincerely God-related? How often do we take the time to discuss God’s will? Not enough. That’s a problem.

We as Christian should never be overly consumed or obsessed with anything other than God. We can’t continue to waste precious time and energy on things that aren’t even the will of God.

So tonight, when I pray, I pray a new prayer. I pray for obsession. I pray to be obsessed with God. With doing His will, with learning His ways, and with being ALWAYS amazed at how awesome the one and only God is. May my obsession be contagious so that more conversations are God-based rather than thing-based. With God as an obsession, is there any wrong?

The feelings that we feel, and the time that we consume with other things, is exactly what God feels for us. We long to be loved and wanted and listened to and to feel like we matter, and God is saying “ So do I, and from you!”

Psalm 139 always reminds me even more of why I should be obsessed with God.

1 You have searched me, Lord, and you know me. 14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Your works are wonderful, I know that full well. 17 How precious to me are Your thoughts God! How vast is the sum of them! 18 Were I to count them, they would number the grains of sand—when I awake, I am still with you.

God knows me! He made me wonderful! And even though He knows all of me, He continues to love me! Even in all my iniquities, my foolishness, my neglect of Him, He has precious thoughts about ME! And the same goes for everyone else! That is why He should be OUR obsession!
